Generations of Computers
শিক্ষালয় ওয়েবসাইটের কাছে অনেক শিক্ষার্থী কম্পিউটার বিষয়ে পোষ্ট করার জন্য অনুরোধ করেছিলে। তোমাদের সেই অনুরোধকে উপেক্ষা করতে না পেরে শিক্ষালয়ের পক্ষ থেকে Generations of Computers প্রদান করা হলো।
আজকে আমরা Generations of Computers সম্পর্কে সাধারণ ধারণা লাভ করবো। এই তথ্যগুলি শুধুমাত্র যারা প্রাথমিক অবস্থায় কম্পিউটার সম্পর্কে ধারণা লাভ করছে তাদের জন্য। যারা ইতিমধ্যেই কম্পিউটার বিষয়ে সাধারণ জ্ঞানগুলি অর্জন করে ফেলেছে তাদের জন্য এই পোষ্টটি নয়। তোমরা শিক্ষালয় ওয়েবসাইটের Computer Learning বিভাগের অন্যান্য পোষ্টগুলি ফলো করো।
1) Describe the generations of Computers.
=> Development of Computer is usually measured in the terms of Computer Generations, which show how over the years computer has changed effectively. Computer Generations can be divided on the basis of the various methods used in the making of the computer.

(I) First Generation Computers:-
P. Eckert and J. W. Muchly developed the first Electronic Computer known as ENIAC. The other Computers which come into this category are NIVAC, EDVAC and UNIVAC etc.
(II) Second Generation Computers:-
Second Generation Computers were based on Transistor (Transfer Resistor) technology which replaced the Vacuum Tubes. Examples of Second Generation Computers are: UNIVAC 1108, IBM 700 etc.
(III) Third Generation Computers:-
The Transistors used in Second Generation were then replaced with Integrated Circuits (IC’s) or chip. Example of Third Generation Computers are: IBM 360, ICL 1900 etc.
(IV) Fourth Generation Computers:-
These Computers were based upon the development of Microprocessors. Example of Fourth
Generation Computers are: INTEL 4004, APPLE SERIES I and II etc.
(V) Fifth Generation Computers:-
Fifth Generation Computers focused on connectivity. This method of connecting of Computers is called Networking.
